Valmai Jones
Valmai has been working in theatre, television and radio for about 40 years as actor, writer and director for a great variety of companies. She was a founder member of Theatr Bara Caws Trained at the Welsh College of Music and Drama and was associate director at Theatre Gwynedd, Bangor in the 90’s. Val has worked on countless devised and co-writing theatre projects and as an individual her most recent plays were Dulce Domun, Actus Reus and Croesi’r Rubicon for Theatr Bara Caws. Her most recent directing work was the Aled Jones-Williams play Chwilys for Theatr Tandem. She has tutored students and local writers in play writing courses in Ty Newydd Llanystumdwy and taught drama to young people and Ysgol Glanaethwy. Recently she was Fominishna in The Sherman Theatre Production of Tis a Family Affair, Lady Mary in the long running BBC Radio Series Yr Aelod and Enid in the Fiction Factory television series Hinterland. She believes that new, devised theatre pieces are essential to the development of theatre in Wales.
